Wisconsin Supreme Court Denies Petition for Review in Osceola Bluffs Development Case
OSCEOLA, WI – The Village of Osceola has received confirmation that the Supreme Court of Wisconsin has denied the petition for review in the Osceola Bluffs development case. The order states:
“A petition for review pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 808.10 having been filed on behalf of petitioners-respondents-petitioners, St. Croix Scenic Coalition, Inc., Tyler Norenberg, Elizabeth Kremser, Earl Wiseman, Deborah Borek, Thomas Caravelli, Peter Paidar, Victoria Nelson, and Thomas Killilea, and considered by this court; IT IS ORDERED that the petition for review is denied, without costs.”
This decision means that the ruling of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals is now final. That ruling held that the St. Croix Scenic Coalition (SCSC) did not meet the legal standing requirements and ordered that the case be remanded to the Circuit Court for dismissal. On March 14th, the Circuit Court of Wisconsin officially dismissed the petition for writ of certiorari, closing the case and lifting the Temporary Restraining Order on the property.
Village Administrator Devin Swanberg expressed enthusiasm for the resolution of the case, stating, “We are pleased with the court’s decision and look forward to moving ahead with the Osceola Bluffs development. This project represents significant economic and community benefits for the Village, and we’re excited to take the next steps.”
